This message can occur for a number of reasons, but the main cause is use of the back button in your internet browser. Please avoid using the back button on your browser, and instead use the links and buttons on the page.
Another possible reason this message can occur is if your browser is blocking cookies.
It seems that Mcafee has blacklisted gwrsignon.info, and as a result users with that software are getting a warning message. Please be assured the site is perfectly safe, and we have approached Mcafee and have asked them to review this; unfortunately, this could take some time. In the meantime, you should be able to override the warning and proceed to the site or use one of the fixed sign-on points.
UPDATE 07/03/2020: Mcafee have informed us they re-assesed the site and reclassified it as 'Minimal Risk'. Users should stop seeing warning messages within the next week.
As part of the sign-on process, the system requests your current location from your smartphone. Your smartphone will not share your location data without your permission.
The reason why the system requests location data is, for some operational roles, it will be necessary to verify you are physically on railway property when you sign-on. Please note that the system cannot track you or your movement in any way. Your location is only requested once at the time you sign-on.
You can block permission to share your location if you wish, and for the majority of volunteers this will not cause a problem.
If you cannot see an appropriate role within your department, then please contact your head of department who can request additional roles be added.
If you don't own a smartphone, then you will need to use one of the computers or tablets around the railway. At the moment, a computer/tablet can be found in the following locations:
- Broadway Stationmasters Office
- Toddington Stationmasters Office
- Toddington Operations Office
- Winchcombe Stationsmasters Office
- Carriage and Wagon Lobby
- Churchward House Reception
- Cheltenham Racecourse Stationmasters Office
Please note that it is not nessasary to use the same device you used to sign on, to sign off.
More points will appear in due course and the list above will be updated accordingly.
A final option is to ask to borrow another volunteers smartphone to sign on.
Please don't forget, but if you do, then the system will automatically sign you off at midnight.
